Qunmiġu Kacey Hopson (Iñupiaq) traces her roots back to Ulġniq (Wainwright), Utqiaġvik, and Kashmir, Pakistan, and resides on Dena’ina land in Anchorage. She is passionate about perpetuating Alaska Native ways of life and self-determination in her role as Director of Sovereign Pathways at Ginga & Igniñ Collective (G&I). Prior to joining G&I, Qunmiġu served as the Interim Director of the Alaska Native Policy Center at First Alaskans Institute, where she dedicated herself to advancing political, social, and economic frameworks grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being. She strongly believes Indigenous ways of life are critical to healthy Alaskan communities and has been honored to advocate for policy solutions rooted in Indigenous values. Qunmiġu graduated from Pomona College with a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy Analysis.
