Training & Community Learning

The knowledge our communities need to govern well, advocate effectively, and build strong organizations already exists among us. Our role in this work is not to arrive as experts but to create conditions where that knowledge can be named, shared, and deepened together. We bring our skills and experience into the room and we welcome the wisdom and lived experience that others bring in return. Learning in community is how we have always grown.

We offer training and learning opportunities that are responsive to what organizations and communities are asking for. Sometimes that means working with a single organization over time. Sometimes we see a need that spans multiple organizations and bring people together across that shared ground. Either way, the work is shaped by what is actually needed.

Our training spans the full range of our work, from funding strategy and grant management to governance frameworks and organizational culture. We hold space for the complex, layered conversations that organizations need to have about equity, belonging, and how they show up for the communities they serve. And we go deep into the governance landscape that is specific to Alaska, where the interplay between Tribal governments, ANCSA corporations, and nonprofit Tribal organizations creates a complexity that requires its own understanding.

Current Training Areas Include:

  • Equity, Belonging and Organizational Culture
  • Navigating Alaska Native Governance and Community Engagement
  • Funding Strategy and Grant Management Training
  • Governance Frameworks and Policy Development
  • Leadership and Governing Body Effectiveness
